As my kids grow, they become more and more interested in their body. They ask a lot of questions and always have interesting comments. I decided to get some books to introduce them to more about their body and created this post of the best books for learning about the body!

My kids are fascinated with their bodies. They are going to love this book list!

I love the 12 Months of Montessori Learning series! I can’t believe we only have 2 more months left. Don’t forget to check out all the links at the bottom of this post for the other participating bloggers.

I’m sure you have had the same kinds of interesting conversations with your kids about their body as I have. Isn’t is interesting what their minds come up with?

I had to get over some of my own fears to talk candidly with my kids about their body. I had to show them I am (even if I’m not) comfortable with my own body to show them their body is an amazing gift from God and should be treated with respect.

From the food we put into our bodies to the way we exercise to keep our bodies healthy learning about the body is essential for a well educated child. My husband and I do our best to be good examples and talk with our kids about the importance of eating food that is less processed and the importance having a good variety of food.

Just today Samuel stated how much he loves mustard! I’m very thankful to have kids that are excited to try new food and can help others understand how to be healthy.

To answer some of the questions your child may have you about their body, you can read some of these body books!

Parts

Parts by  Tedd Arnold is a seriously funny book. My kids laugh every time we read it. Avalyn has a little obsession with her bellybutton. As the character in this book frets about the bellybutton lint, she can really relate.

I will say, if you kids are not afraid about anything happen with their body, I would hesitate to read this book. It may bring up unfounded fears.

My Five Senses

My Five Senses by Aliki is a great beginning science book for your kids. Aliki touches on each of the five senses without overwhelming the reader. Children reading this books will understand that the five senses help us evaluate the world around us. The illustrations are wonderful too!

The Magic School Bus Inside The Body

The Magic School Bus Inside the Body one of the best books for learning about the body in the 12 Months of Montessori Learning Series on ChildLedLife.com

I have to say, The Magic School Bus has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember! I can remember watching the TV show as a child and my kids really love the books in this series with relatable characters.

The Magic School Bus Inside the Body by Joanna Cole is sure to please! BUT be prepared to take a couple sitting to read through the whole book. I always learn just as much as the kids with The Magic School Bus books, but there is SO much information. It can be a little overwhelming.

I like to break half way through and do a fun body activity before finishing the last part.

Your Fantastic Elastic Brain

One of Avalyn’s struggles now that she is in a Montessori school is the work cycle. Her teacher explained how much she can stretch her brain during a work session. So I decided to get this book to help her learn a bit more about her amazing brain!

Your Fantastic Elastic Brain by JoAnn Deak has created a fun and inviting book for children to learn the basic functions of the brain and how to best exercise one of the largest organs in the body.

The Tooth Book

Dr. Seuss has a way of making an subject fun to learn! The Tooth Book is no different. Samuel has been a little worried about the upcoming time in life where he will lose his teeth. Although we have talked about the process, reading this book helped him feel a little better about the role of teeth and how important it is to keep them healthy.

Germs Make Me Sick!

Germs Make Me Sick! one of the best books for learning about the body in the 12 Months of Montessori Learning Series on ChildLedLife.com

With the upcoming fall season, we usually get sick. Sick kids are no fun! This book is a great way to help kids learn a little about what makes us sick. I really like how it explains a little more about why we feel bad when we are sick and how much our body has to work to fight off the virus or bacteria that is making us sick.

The Skeleton Inside You

The Skeleton Inside You one of the best books for learning about the body in the 12 Months of Montessori Learning Series on ChildLedLife.com

We have studied the skeleton before, but this book was a great review. The Skeleton Inside You by Phillip Balestrino is a great beginning science book for kindergarteners. It really drives home the fact that without the bones inside us we would not be able to run, jump, and play! We would be “as floppy as a beanbag”!
